South Eastern Private partners with Monash Health for World Congress of Psychiatry case study

An intriguing mental health case study was presented last week at the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) World Congress of Psychiatry in Portugal - forming part of an exciting research partnership between Monash Health and South Eastern Private Hospital with more to come in the future.

South Eastern Private Hospital's Mental Health team is focused on providing patients with evidence-based treatment that delivers the best patient outcomes.

To further support our evidence-based approach, South Eastern Private has embarked on an exciting partnership with Monash Health to undertake ongoing research.

The attached case study examines the potential for lithium toxicity in patients who have undergone a sleeve gastrectomy.

While further research is required, this case study sets the exciting agenda for more investigation and research into the future.

South Eastern Private Hospital's 60 bed mental health unit across two wards - 'Olinda' and Emerald' that provide treatment for mood disorders, anxiety, depression and older adult conditions. The hospital's Olinda and Emerald wards operate on a consultant team basis with highly qualified mental health nursing and therapy staff.

  • Inpatient therapy programs
  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) inpatient and day programs
  • CBT-based programs
  • A broad range of day therapy programs to support ongoing recovery and wellness

We have designed our mental health facility to deliver care in the least restrictive manner. This allows patients to feel relaxed and comfortable, with patient safety our first priority.
